The Little Dragon Born On a bright day in San Francisco, a special baby was born. His name was Bruce Lee. It was the Year of the Dragon - November 27, 1940. His parents were so happy! They gave him a special Chinese name too - "Little Dragon." Bruce's dad was an actor who traveled around showing Chinese opera. His mom came from a rich family. They lived in San Francisco for a short time, but soon moved back to Hong Kong when Bruce was just a tiny baby. "When Bruce was born, he was so small and precious," his mother recalled. "But he had such bright, curious eyes!" Growing Up in Hong Kong Life in Hong Kong was very different from America. The streets were busy and full of noise. Little Bruce loved watching his dad perform in opera shows. He would copy the moves he saw on stage, jumping and spinning around their small apartment. Bruce wasn't like other kids. He had lots of energy and couldn't sit still! His mom would say: "Bruce, you're like a little tornado! Always moving, always dancing!"
