The sun blazed hot over Athens as young Xenophon walked through the busy streets. He was only twenty-five years old, but his eyes sparkled with big dreams.
"Mother, I want to do something important with my life," Xenophon said one morning while helping in their family garden. "I hear there's a chance to join a great army!"
His mother looked worried. "But you're so young, my son. What army is this?"
