The others introduced themselves as Lord Kukulkan and Lord Chaak. They were ancient and powerful Blood Deities who would help train Canek.
"Your first lesson," Lady Ix Chel said, "is learning to find your inner power."
The First Test
The elders formed a circle around Canek. They raised their hands and crimson energy flowed between them.
"Close your eyes," Lord Kukulkan instructed. "Feel the power in your blood. Let it rise like steam from hot springs."
Canek concentrated. Warmth spread through his body. When he opened his eyes, red mist was curling from his skin!
"Good," smiled Lord Chaak. "Now shape it with your mind."
Canek pictured the mist becoming a ball. Slowly, the red vapor gathered into a floating sphere.
