Alex's hands trembled as she brushed away the dirt from the strange object. The summer sun beat down on her backyard, where she had been helping Mom plant new flowers. But now, everything had changed.
"Mom! Look what I found!" Alex called out, holding up a small bronze disc covered in weird pictures.
Mom hurried over, her gardening gloves still covered in soil. Her eyes grew wide. "Oh my goodness, Alex. This is incredible!"
The disc sparkled in the sunlight, showing pictures of people with weird clothes and animals Alex had never seen before. There were owls, lightning bolts, and what looked like a three-headed dog!
"These are ancient Greek symbols," Mom explained, gently taking the disc. "Each one tells a special story about the gods of Mount Olympus."
Alex leaned closer, fascinated by the strange markings. "Gods? Like Zeus and stuff?"
"Exactly! Zeus, Athena, Poseidon - they all had special symbols that represented their powers." Mom pointed to a lightning bolt on the disc. "See this? That's Zeus's symbol. He was the king of all gods."
Suddenly, the disc grew warm in Mom's hands. Alex watched in amazement as the symbols began to glow with a soft golden light.
A Strange Voice
"Young seeker of wisdom," a voice whispered on the wind. "You have been chosen."
Alex spun around, but no one was there. Mom was still examining the disc, apparently not hearing anything unusual.
"Did you hear that?" Alex asked.
Mom looked confused. "Hear what, sweetie?"
Before Alex could answer, the symbols on the disc started moving! The owl seemed to blink, and the lightning bolt crackled with tiny sparks.
The voice came again, stronger this time: "The gods of Olympus have a task for you, young one. Will you accept their challenge?"
Alex's heart raced with excitement. She looked at the disc, then at her mom, who was still studying the symbols with fascination. Something amazing was happening, and somehow Alex knew her life would never be the same.
"Yes," she whispered back. "I accept."
The disc glowed brighter, and suddenly new symbols appeared around its edge. They formed a kind of map, with a glowing trail leading away from Alex's house.
The First Sign
Mom finally noticed the change. "Alex, look! These new markings... they're showing us something!"
Alex traced the glowing path with her finger. It led to the old museum downtown - the one with all the Greek stuff that Alex's class had visited last month.
"I think," Alex said slowly, "I'm supposed to go there. The gods... they're trying to tell me something."
Mom smiled warmly. "Well, it's Saturday, and I did promise to take you somewhere special. Should we follow this mysterious map?"
Alex nodded eagerly. As they got ready to leave, she carefully wrapped the disc in her favorite blue bandana. The symbols were still glowing faintly, like tiny stars caught in bronze.
In the car, Alex couldn't stop thinking about the voice and its challenge. What did the gods want to show her? Why had they chosen her?

The woman had bright gray eyes that reminded Alex of the owl statue. She wore a silver necklace with a tiny owl charm that sparkled in the museum lights.
"I'm Alex," she said shyly, feeling the disc grow warmer. "We found something in our garden..."

The First Challenge
Dr. Sofia led them to a special room full of Greek treasures. In the middle stood a big puzzle box covered with owl pictures.
"Alex," the familiar whisper returned, "prove your wisdom. Open the box that cannot be opened by force."
Alex studied the box carefully. She noticed that the owls' eyes seemed to follow different patterns. Some looked left, others right, and a few looked straight ahead.
"Remember," Dr. Sofia said softly, "Athena teaches us that the smartest answer is often the simplest one."
Alex thought hard. Then she saw it! The owls were showing her which way to turn the different parts of the box. Left, right, straight, left again...
Click! The box opened smoothly, revealing a small silver key shaped like an olive branch.
"Well done!" Dr. Sofia clapped. "You used your mind instead of muscle - just like Athena would!"

"Look!" Alex pointed to a giant stone door. It had twelve pictures carved on it, showing all of Hercules's big adventures.
"Hercules had to do twelve super hard jobs," Dr. Sofia explained. "But his real power wasn't in his muscles - it was in his brave heart!" ❤️

The key started pulling Alex toward the door. Tiny sparkles of light danced around the carvings.

The floor started to shake! The stone pillars moved by themselves, making a tricky path across the room. Some pillars looked wobbly and unsafe.
"Oh my!" Mom gasped. "Alex, maybe we should go back..."
But Alex remembered what Dr. Sofia said about being brave. She took a deep breath and looked at the path carefully.

"You did it!" Dr. Sofia cheered. "You showed real hero strength - using your brain and being brave!"
Alex put on the bracelet. It glowed warmly, just like her heart felt inside. The disc buzzed again, and she saw new symbols starting to appear.

"Ready for your next journey?" Dr. Sofia asked, pointing to a dark doorway with stars twinkling inside.
Mom hugged Alex tight. "My brave girl, turning monsters into friends!"
Alex nodded, holding her glowing bracelet high. She wasn't scared anymore - she knew that understanding others was the real magic! Deep Below
