The boys woke up before sunrise every day. Their beds were made of reeds they collected themselves from the river. They didn’t get warm blankets – this helped them grow strong.

King Leonidas Steps Up
“We must protect Greece!” said King Leonidas of Sparta. He picked 300 of his best warriors. They would fight to save everyone!
“Why only 300?” asked a young boy.
“Because that’s all we need,” smiled Leonidas. “We are Spartans!”
