The Divine Gathering
High up on Mount Olympus, where the clouds dance with the stars, a big party was happening. All the gods and goddesses came to celebrate a special wedding. The music played, and everyone was having fun!
"What a lovely party!" said Zeus, the king of all gods. He smiled as he watched the happy guests eating sweet nectar and dancing.
But not everyone got invited. Eris, the goddess who liked to cause trouble, stood outside. She was sad and angry that no one wanted her at the party.
She took out a shiny golden apple. It was the prettiest apple anyone had ever seen! ✨ On it, she wrote special words: "For the Most Beautiful."
With a sneaky smile, Eris threw the apple right into the middle of the party. It landed with a bounce between three important goddesses:
- Hera, the queen of the gods
- Athena, the wise goddess
- Aphrodite, the goddess of love
"That apple should be mine!" said Hera, reaching for it. "I'm the queen!"
"No, no!" Athena jumped forward. "I'm the smartest and most beautiful!"
Aphrodite laughed and tossed her long hair. "Everyone knows I'm the prettiest of all!"
The three goddesses started arguing. Their voices got louder and louder. The happy party turned into a big mess!
Zeus rubbed his head. He didn't want to pick who was the most beautiful. That would make two goddesses very mad at him!
The other gods nodded. Yes, letting a human decide seemed like a good idea. But the three goddesses had different plans. Each one wanted to win, and they would do anything to get that golden apple!
Night fell on Mount Olympus. The party was over, but a new story was just beginning. Down on Earth, a young man named Paris had no idea that his life was about to change forever. The gods were coming to visit him, and they would bring both gifts and trouble!
“The choice of one shall change the fate of many,” whispered the Fates, as they watched the golden apple sparkle in the moonlight.
Thunder rumbled in the distance. The three goddesses left Mount Olympus, each planning how to win the contest. They would need to find this Paris person, and each hoped to make him choose her as the most beautiful of all.
Paris of Troy
The morning sun peeked over the green hills where Paris watched his sheep. He didn’t look like most shepherds. His clothes were nicer, and he wore a special ring. That’s because Paris was really a prince!
“Another beautiful day,” Paris said, looking at his city of Troy. The big walls of Troy stood tall and strong against the blue sky. Inside those walls lived his father, King Priam, and his many brothers and sisters.
But Paris didn’t live in the palace. When he was a baby, something scary happened. His mother had a bad dream that Paris would bring trouble to Troy. So his parents sent him to live in the hills as a shepherd.
“Paris is special,” the old shepherds would say. “He always knows what’s right and fair.”
All the shepherds came to Paris when they had problems. Like when two shepherds fought over a lost sheep, Paris would help them figure out who it belonged to. He was very good at making fair choices! ⚖️
Paris carefully picked up the bird. He made a soft nest and helped it get better. Everyone knew Paris had a kind heart. ️
But strange things started happening that day. First, a white dove landed on his shoulder and wouldn’t fly away. Then, the wind whispered his name. The sheep acted nervous, like they knew something was coming.
Back in Troy, King Priam stood on his palace wall. He looked at the hills where his son Paris lived. He didn’t know that Paris would soon make a choice that would change everything.
Paris felt it too. The air seemed different. Magic seemed to dance in the breeze. He didn’t know that three powerful goddesses were watching him, each planning how to win his favor.
As the sun started to set, Paris gathered his sheep to head home. The stars began to twinkle, and a soft golden light appeared in front of him. Someone was coming to visit – someone who wasn’t human! ✨
Paris wrapped his cloak tighter around his shoulders. The night was getting colder, and the golden light was getting brighter. Soon, he would meet three of the most powerful goddesses in the world. But for now, he was just a shepherd prince, walking home with his sheep under the magical evening sky.
The Divine Propositions
Paris woke up to find his sheep field bathed in golden light. Three beautiful ladies stood before him. But these weren’t regular ladies – they were goddesses! ✨
Hermes, the messenger god, appeared with a golden apple. It sparkled in the sunlight. “This apple,” he said, “is for the most beautiful goddess. You must choose who gets it.”
The first goddess stepped forward. She wore a crown and had peacocks by her side. This was Hera, the queen of all gods!
“Choose me, Paris,” Hera said with a smile. “I can make you the king of the whole world! You’ll have more power than any human ever!”
Paris’s eyes got big. Being king of the world sounded amazing! But before he could speak, the second goddess stepped up.
Paris thought about that too. Being super smart and strong would be wonderful! Then the third goddess came closer.
Paris felt stuck. These were all such good offers! He looked at each goddess:
- Hera offered power and kingdoms
- Athena promised wisdom and strength
- Aphrodite would give him true love
The goddesses waited while Paris thought hard. His sheep watched quietly, knowing something big was happening. Even the birds stopped singing to see what he would choose.
The sun climbed higher in the sky. Paris knew he had to decide soon. The golden apple felt heavy in his hands.
Hera showed him visions of golden thrones and bowing servants. Athena made warriors appear, all cheering for Paris the Wise. Aphrodite just smiled and showed him Helen’s face in a magic mirror.
The wind picked up, making the leaves dance around them. The three goddesses waited for Paris’s answer. Each one thought she would win. None of them knew how this choice would change everything forever! ⚡
A Choice That Changed Everything
Paris held the golden apple in his hands. It felt warm, like it was alive. His heart was beating fast.
He held out the apple to the goddess of love. Her smile was as bright as the sun!
“Thank you, dear Paris,” Aphrodite said sweetly. “You won’t be sorry!”
But not everyone was happy. Hera’s face turned red with anger. The sky got dark, and thunder boomed! ⛈️
Athena looked just as mad. Her gray eyes flashed like lightning.
Paris started to feel scared. Maybe he made a bad choice? But Aphrodite put her hand on his shoulder.
The angry goddesses disappeared in a flash of light. Dark clouds rolled away. But things would never be the same.
Paris didn’t understand. He just knew Helen’s pretty face was stuck in his head. He had to meet her!
“When can I see Helen?” he asked Aphrodite.
“Soon,” she promised. “But first, you need to know something. Helen is already married to a king named Menelaus.”
Paris’s heart sank. “Married? But you said…”
The goddess disappeared too, leaving Paris alone with his sheep. The golden apple was gone, but he could still feel its warmth in his hands.
His sheep baa-ed softly in the dark. They seemed to know that tomorrow would bring big changes. The stars twinkled above, keeping their secrets about what was coming. ⭐
Journey to Love
The sun was bright when Paris packed his bags. He was going on a big trip to Sparta!
Paris sailed on a big ship across the blue sea. The waves danced and dolphins jumped nearby.
“I’ve never been so far from home,” Paris said to the captain. “What’s Sparta like?”
“It’s a strong city,” the captain said. “King Menelaus rules there with Queen Helen.”
Finally, they reached Sparta. Paris’s heart jumped when he saw the big castle. Was Helen inside?
Then Paris saw her – Helen! She was even prettier than in his dreams. Her hair shined like gold in the sun.
For days, Paris stayed at the castle. He and Helen talked and laughed together.
“I crossed the sea just to find you,” Paris replied softly.
But Helen looked sad. “I’m married to Menelaus. We can’t be together.”
Helen’s eyes got wide. “Leave Sparta? But…”
That night, Aphrodite visited Helen in a dream.
“Follow your heart,” the goddess said. “Real love is worth any price!”
The next morning, Helen made her choice. She packed a small bag while everyone was sleeping.
They snuck onto Paris’s ship in the dark. The moon was their only light.
But back in the castle, a storm was brewing. King Menelaus woke up to find his wife gone! His angry roar shook the whole kingdom. ⛈️
On the ship, Paris and Helen didn’t know about the anger they left behind. They were too busy being in love.
But Aphrodite knew what was coming. She watched from above and whispered, “The price of love is about to become very high indeed…”
The Storm Breaks
King Menelaus was so angry his face turned red as a tomato!
Agamemnon nodded. “I’ll send messages to all the Greek kings. We’ll build the biggest army ever!”
“Look!” shouted a sailor. “Ships are coming from every Greek city!”
“More ships than stars in the sky,” another agreed.
The greatest heroes of Greece came to help:
• Clever Odysseus from his island home
• Strong Ajax with his big shield
Meanwhile in Troy, Paris and Helen arrived at the big city gates.
Paris’s brother Hector wasn’t happy at all.
“What have you done?” Hector asked. “The Greeks will come for her!”
“Let them come,” Paris said. “Our walls are strong!”
High above, the gods watched the humans prepare for war.
Only Aphrodite looked worried. She knew love could start wars, but this one would be bigger than any before. ⚔️
“Beware!” he told everyone. “This love will cost us everything!”
The Greek ships sailed closer to Troy each day. Their sails looked like white birds on the blue sea. ⛵
“Because of us,” Paris said, holding her hand.
Thunder rolled in the sky. Zeus, king of the gods, spoke: ️
“A great war is coming. Songs will tell of it for thousands of years. All because of one golden apple and one choice.”
And so it began. The greatest war ever fought was starting. The choice Paris made for love would change the world forever. ⚡
But that’s another story…
